Getting into college today is far more difficult, competitive and expensive than ever before. Even a small oversight or mistake in the college admissions process can make all the difference in your son or daughter gaining admission to the school of their dreams or receiving a valuable scholarship. Less than 10% of students get into their first choice college, and 25% drop out their freshman year. Through it all, you will likely spend between $100,000 and $300,000 on room, board, tuition and travel for your child's education.

Yet in the end, immediate employment out of college is no longer guaranteed. Therefore, choosing the "right fit" school and environment to maximize their potential is critical. Would you invest $100,000+ in the stock market or real estate without the help of a professional broker or agent? Let the professional coaches at THE KEY guide you through this complex process and tap into your child’s passions and innate talents to unlock opportunities to build a road map for future success. Your sons and daughters are a few short years from leaving home, going to college, starting a career and going out on their own. Are they ready? Are you?

Ear-to-Ear Grins

Dear Rick,

I owe you forever. My kid who could not read a poem in front of the class is now...in a comedy troupe!!! He is so happy about school! You were life changing for all of us. Your subtle style made us all comfortable, but it was your deep down encouragement that let him know there was hope for greatness. Bottom line is that you believed in him, and that made all the difference. For my kid to be getting A's plural... is incredible.

Beyond thank you!!!

Proud Longhorn

Dear Rick,

Can you believe it? We just dropped William off at the University of Texas, Austin. He is quickly adjusting to life as a Longhorn, and has already pledged a fraterity. He literally could not be happier. The University of Texas is so competitive for out of state students, and none of this would have ever been possible without your help and guidance. We could not be more proud of the man that William is becoming.
Thanks again for all your help.

Best always,
Kacy Rozelle

Life Change in Poland

Hi Rick,

Thanks for the thank you note, but it is we who should be thanking you. Your vision, generosity and trust in DePaul made it possible for seven students to experience people and a part of the world that they would probably otherwise not have. After Prague, Krakow and a lot of other places, student thinking about history, politics, nationhood, human nature, art, morality, religion and religious traditions is now grounded in a much richer sense and knowledge of humanity and human history. You made it possible for several students to understand and appreciate their familial background in new ways. You also made it possible for Alexei and me to spend extended periods of time with seven interesting students, getting to know them and having them getting to know us ---- for better and for worse. For next summer – there are people talking about Israel. I am not sure of any details. Decisions will be made in the Fall. Finally, Alexei and I know each other a lot better. And we are grateful to you. Thanks.
I hope to see you in one of your future passes through Chicago.

Best wishes,
Jim

Together at NYU

Dear Rick and Mikaela,

These past few days Mitchell and I got to explore a little bit of NYU and New York City. We both truly cannot thank you enough for everything. This is more than a dream come true for us and we are beyond excited for this incredible and unbelievable opportunity you have given us. I am so excited to study at the library that we wrote about in the personal statement!!
Thank you so so much again from the bottom of our hearts.

Sincerely,
Natalie Shevchenko

Look Out Wall Street!

Rick,

I somehow made it through the University of Chicago. My mother reminded me of the time you came to visit me on campus early on when I was having a rough time. I remembered with tears in my eyes desperately wanting to come home. First, I would like to thank you for not only taking the time to come talk with me, but for convincing me it was time to grow up and I could make it through if I truly wanted to. I did extremely poorly freshman year and didn't realize how important this school would be for my future. Speaking with you kept me at U Chicago, and I am forever grateful.
Secondly, I want to share something my dad always said about you. He said that you were an accelerator. If a student was going 50 mph already, you could speed them up to 75. You were clearly able to do a lot for me, but this analogy made it clear that you weren't going to do it for me. You gave me the tools to succeed, but what I did with those tools is what allowed me to get to 75. This is when it all came together for me.
As you predicted, U Chicago was a great fit for me. The social atmosphere in Chicago helped me to get to exactly where I wanted to go. The competitiveness of the other students began to sharpened my game. Knowing I had my family's and your support gave me the courage to compete with these kids. Sophomore year I figured it out, and realized how possible it really was. I never looked back, and finished with the best econ GPA of all the football guys in my year.
Finally, we always talked about working on Wall Street, and now I couldn't be more excited to begin my journey there. I am truly grateful for everything you have done for my family and me.
Thank you again for everything you do and have done. It made a huge difference in my life.

Forever grateful,
Paul Comet

Doctorate in Chemistry!

Hi Rick,

Wanted to let you know that Griffin walked for his doctorate in Chemistry (Surface Science and Catalysis) last Saturday. He is pictured here with his advising professor Gabor Samorjai. Thank you again for your strategy in making sure he got into Berkeley over 9 years ago!
When you get a moment, if you could also contact our niece, Alicia, to advise her on NYU Medical School vs. University of Vermont, we would greatly appreciate it.

Crazy for DePaul

Hey Rick,

I’m really sorry I didn’t contact you after I made my decision, but I just wanted to express to you how much of an impact you’ve had on my life despite the relatively short amount of time you’ve been in it. My decision to attend DePaul University is the most exciting opportunity that I have had in my entire life, and I have you to thank for helping me get into the school and making my decision to go there. I can’t believe what you have been able to do for my mom and me, and I just hope that I can someday repay you for the generosity and respect that you have shown me. You are such an inspiring and impactful man, and I hope that I may one day fulfill a role in the world similar to yours. With the educational and career opportunities that you have helped put into my path, I know that I can take advantage of and do some good for myself and for others. Speaking of educational and career opportunities, I just learned something today before taking my Math Placement Test (which, by the way, I scored above average on). I saw on the DePaul homepage that The Second City will be collaborating with the DePaul School of Cinema Arts to offer degrees in Comedy Filmmaking beginning in Fall 2018... I can’t believe my luck. The year that I begin attending DePaul University is the year that degrees in Comedy Filmmaking are being offered. Isn’t that crazy??? I’m just so grateful and happy with my decision to attend DePaul. Thank you Rick.

You truly are an incredible man!

Personal Touch

Dear Rick,

Thank you for helping Sydney get where she is in her college application process. Leslie and I are thrilled she is committing to Colgate and believe it is a great fit for her. I really appreciate your personal attention to my daughter and family. We are confident that Sydney will feel at home at Colgate and thrive academically and in athletics. Of our three daughters I was always most concerned for Sydney . We are very happy she is participating in the official signing next week. Thanks again for all your guidance and counsel during the past year. We look forward to working with you with Shannon and Cassie over the next few years.

Stress Free Parenting

Hey Rick,

I hope all is well with you. I’ve been meaning to write to you after hearing the great news about Taite’s ED admission to Claremont McKenna College. It was fantastic news, and we are all very thrilled about it. I just wanted to say thanks for your help and guidance with Max and Taite through the entire college prep process. Your insights were very valuable and you made what could have been a very stressful process for all involved, much less stressful. It was nice not having all of the usual stress between kids and parents as they go through it.

Thanks again,

Tears of Joy

Hi Rick,

As you know, Amanda is a very calm, strong person. We have probably only heard her cry around five-ish times since about age four. Today was one of those times. She called us with happy tears immediately after reading her acceptance to Brown. As you know there is no greater joy as a parent than watching your child set a big goal and achieve it. I don't think Amanda realized how much this meant to her. She was not prepared to get that incredible news. Brown seems to be a perfect fit for her. Thank you for supporting all of us through this time. We appreciate your patience and guidance more than you could ever know. The college process is so layered and confusing. I don't know what we would've done without your insight and belief in our daughter. Outside of the work, we have all enjoyed getting to know you as a person and a friend.

Thank you for being you,
Amy and Phil

Dream University

Rick,

Thank you again,
Peter

Dear Rick,

Georgetown Bound

Dear Rick,

I wanted to let you know how unbelievably thankful I am for all of your help over the past 3 years with my entire college application process. I realize that this note is extremely late and so I apologize for that! I was so overwhelmed (and relieved, and elated, and crying tears of joy) after getting into Georgetown that I guess I forgot to thank the most influential and helpful person! Anyways, there was no way I could have handled everything without you. Thank you for every supplement edit, helping me with my indecisions, replying to my frantic e-mails and texts, and sticking with me until the end. It was seriously awesome working with you and I appreciate every single thing you did for me. You are the best! I'll see you soon!

Thanks again (so so so much!),

Nikki

Dear Rick,

Ava is thriving at NYU Stern as a sophomore. I cannot thank you enough for your help!I know she referred her friend Emma Berns from Oak Park to you earlier this year. She's a Smart kid in marine Biology at UC San Diego. Luc will graduate from CSUN after 2 years at RIT. We are still big fans!

Future Astronaut

Hi Mr. Singer,

I wanted to say thank you for speaking yesterday at my first Generation WOW. After hearing you speak, I still want to be an astronaut, but definitely some type of engineer as well. I hope to some day attend maybe NYU or Duke to name two. Since I'm only in seventh grade, I've got some time, but I'm still continuing to do my community service, and working hard at my new school Bolles. I hope we can keep in touch since my mom is s single parent, and doesn't make much money right now. I will definitely need scholarships. I plan to put my best foot forward, moves grades up, and read your book. FYI, I love the player vs. potential concept. I think I'm a little of both right now. Well thank you again and have a great year.

Best always,
Taylor Richardson, aka astronaut StarBright

Dancing in the Streets of NYC

Dear Rick,

I can't believe this! I have been speechless and in disbelief all morning! This would have been absolutely impossible without you and Mikaela! There are simply not enough words to describe how truly grateful and appreciative I am for absolutely every minute that you have spent on my essay/ application as well as answering all my questions. I can't believe that the possibility of Mitchell and I moving to New York to study at this renowned institution and train in dance can be a reality! Thank you so so so much!!!!

Sincerely,

Boulder Bound

Mr. Singer,

Thank you for everything you and your team did for me during the college application process. I don’t know what would I have done without your help. I ended up applying to 14 colleges, and was accepted at 11 of them. I ultimately chose Boulder University because I fell in love with the campus, and I think it has an academic level that I will be able to handle, which was one of your biggest pieces of advice for me. As you will recall my academic situation made this a delicate balance because of the classes I needed to take, but never had the time to. So instead of me having to study 5 years at the university due to my lack of preparation for business, Boulder University is allowing me to study for 4 years in their pre-business to full business program. I’m so happy and excited to go to Boulder! My dad is already looking for apartments in Boulder to have an excuse to come and visit me. My mom is already crying, and one of my little brothers is already moving into my bedroom. Thank you once again for everything, you have no idea how much I appreciate what you did for me.

College Hero

Hi Rick,

How are you? Tess received her official "March Through The Arch" T-shirt last night - what a thrill! I just wanted to thank you again for not only your help, but your kindness, strength and patience. We were not your easiest clients with all our ups and downs and all arounds and I am so very grateful to you for sticking by our side through all of it. I have passed your info onto a few people (my brother and sister-in- law included). As you can imagine you are a hero to us as well as all who love Tess and have been watching her life and dreams unfold.... Thanks again for everything.

All my very best,
Terry

Thanks for a Great Year

Dear Rick,

I hope your Holidays and New Year went well! I wanted to thank you immensely for all the work you did with me last year. You were invaluable during my college process and I'm so grateful for all the help you were able to provide for me. I truly believed you were the single most helpful person I've worked with this entire time. I can't even begin to thank you enough.

Looking forward to more great results this year too!

Successful Summer Ball

Hi Rick,

Just a note to say thank you again for sending the two groups of boys and girls from the Oakland Soldiers to Sly Park Basketball School this past summer. We had a great summer of basketball, friendships, and fun and I thought you would like a copy of the Division Pictures with all of your players. The players from your Oakland Soldiers Program were outstanding young men and women and we thoroughly enjoyed working with them. Please pass along my heartfelt thanks to the entire Key Worldwide team for all of their work to make a week at our camp possible. Have a great day Rick and thank you again for all that YOU did to make it happen coach!

Slam Dunk Scholarships

Dear Rick,

Just a note to say, "Thank You" very much for providing the opportunity for 10 boys and 10 girls from the Oakland Soldiers to attend Sly Park Basketball School this upcoming summer. Our camp is "blessed" to have friends like you and we're grateful for your generous gift. It's hard to believe, but this summer we will begin our 35th year and now have nearly 14,000 graduates that includes 107 weeks of camp and counting! Time does fly when you are having fun!
It still puts a big smile on my face coach, thinking about those talks we use to have back in the day! You know what they say Rick, "teammates are forever," so it's been great being your teammate! I know how busy you are, but if you were ever able to stop by, please know you are always welcome and we'd love to see you! By the way, Ron McKenna is being inducted into the Sly Park Coaches Hall of Fame on Saturday.
I'm stoked for the start of camp, and can't wait to get going! Thank you again Rick for providing these scholarships - these young players are going to have a great week of basketball, friendship and fun because of you, and we plan to go out of our way to make this the best week of their summer!

Sincerely,
Steve Williams

Recognize #42?

Hey Rick,

I'm sure that you will recognize #42, that's me, and thanks to you and the Key, I'm a proud new Berkeley Bear! You stuck with me and guided my career after my injury, and set the course for me to play college ball. If it weren't for you, I would never have achieved my dream of playing Division 1 football.

Thank you,

Proud to be a Mustang

Dear Rick,

I'm writing this e-mail today to simply say thank you. I leave for SMU in 30 days, and I could not be more excited about moving to Dallas. I'm positive that I would have never found such a perfect school for me if it wasn't for your guidance. Not only did you help me through the college search and the application processes, you were also able to help me obtain a manager position on the basketball team. I have already met some of the players and other managers, and I am very excited to begin working with all of them. I'm looking forward to staying in touch as I go through my years as a Mustang.

Thank you,
Evan Webb

Navigating the Process

Dear Rick,

We want to thank you and your great staff for the excellent support you provided to us and, above all, to Laura. It has been a wonderful journey since we started getting help from you and your staff in order to guide and support the tasks Laura had to complete for her applications to college. We have highly appreciated the level of competence and high quality standards of delivering an excellent support to us: looking at Laura getting accepted in most of the colleges she wanted to go and see her deciding to go to CalPoly at SLO, one of her favorite colleges, was the confirmation of a great job done in the past year. We are extremely thankful for what you have done for us. Please extend this message to the whole staff.

Thanks,
Luca, Lodolo and Marilena Russo

Look at Me Now!

Dear Rick,

As you know, I struggled to get good grades while I was attending Jesuit Carmichael High School in Sacramento, but you did not give up on me. You pushed me to take the first step and enroll at Cuesta Community College to move the ball down the field. All through my academic career you were there for me. Coaching me, taking my game to the next level. You worked your magic to get me into my dream school, NYC, and now, look at me... straight A's at NYU!! I could not have accomplished my goals and achieved my dreams without you and the Key.

Many thanks,
Nathan Frank
