With their guidance, thousands of high school and college students have received guidance on the admissions process to either attain an undergraduate or graduate degree in every field imaginable. Over ten years ago, Mr. Singer left THE KEY to explore other opportunities. He became one of the nation’s top executives in the Call Center Industry. Rick joined The Money Store/First Union Bank, running the retail bank’s call center operations. He became the Executive Vice President of the nation’s largest publicly traded call center company, West Corporation, and soon thereafter, became the CEO of one of India’s largest call center companies before selling it to ICICI Bank.
Rick returned to the THE KEY, developing a life-coaching model that is delivered one-on-one in a client’s home, office or from a distance, via telephone or online video conferencing (e.g. Skype). THE KEY’S clientele is referral-based, organically reaching the world’s most respected families and providing a prestigious foundation for THE KEY to grow its offerings worldwide.
In 2000, Rick and three other educators created The University of Miami Online High School, which was the nation’s first fully-operating fully online high school. Rick and his team created a student population of over 18,000 students annually, each paying over $15,000 per year to attend. In 2007 Kaplan College Preparatory purchased the rights to The University of Miami Online. Soon thereafter, Rick and his team took a significant position in Laurel Springs Online High School and helped it grow exponentially both from an enrollment and a college acceptance perspective. In Rick’s core business, a new KEY vertical has recently been launched with Morgan Stanley, Oppenheimer Financial, UBS and PIMCO to advantage THE KEY life coaching model for both private wealth management clients and employees.

Being a father and coach, I’ve seen the stress that the college admissions process can put on a family. As founder of The Key, I have spent the past 25 years helping students discover their life passion, and guiding them along with their families through the complex college admissions maze. Using The Key method, our coaches help unlock the full potential of your son or daughter, and set them on a course to excel in life.
Having lived all over the world, I have come to appreciate how invaluable a college education can be. Understanding cultural and academic differences, I help my students find the "right-fit" college that will help them realize their dreams. No matter the challenge: essay writing, SAT prep, or course selection, I guide them through the college admissions maze. Ms. Bindler is recognized by Stanford University for exceptional teaching and student leadership.
Years of experience as a classroom teacher and college tutor have taught me it is never too early to start planning for college. Getting a jump start on college means getting a jump start on life. As I guide them through the college admissions process, I enjoy helping students realize their potential and find their life passion.
Having been an educator and an athletic coach, I have seen so many students miss out on achieving their life dreams. One of the things I like most about coaching for The Key is that I get to know my students on deep level. I get to know their passions and the schools they want to attend, and I can help them find the right fit college for their life goals and aspirations.
Having taught and coached in public high schools for years, I have seen so many students miss big opportunities because the school staff was overwhelmed by huge student ratios. As a Key coach I get to give my students the individual attention they need and deserve. I can help them maximize their academic potential and navigate the college admissions process with total one-on-one support.
With my own children, I learned first hand how difficult it is to get athletic scholarships at Tier 1 universities like UCLA. Now as a coach with The Key I get to apply my years of experience to provide insightful, personal and well-executed life skills and college admissions plans. For a few short years I get to come along side parents and their students as we work together to achieve their dreams.
After many years of coaching college athletes, I have seen how all too often they bet it all and come up short because they did not have a solid well-rounded life plan. As a college admissions coach for The Key, I now get to focus these students on developing a plan to succeed in school, on the field and in life.
After years of teaching and coaching students at the high school level, coaching with The Key has allowed me to personally stress to my students the importance of goal-setting and being motivated to reach their highest potential on a daily basis. Through hard work and determination, every student has the capability to achieve any dream.

“While College Admissions Become More Competitive, The KEY Helps Students Stand Out Amongst Their Peers”
Rigor and Relevance are the new criteria for top tier college admissions –
Sacramento, California April 5, 2011 –The KEY Worldwide, the nation’s largest private life coaching and college counseling company, is offering five rigorous summer programs for high school students to earn college level mastery of their personal career passions: LA Film Academy –focuses on the Movie Industry, Automotive Engineering –focuses on Alternative Fuel Vehicles, NXT Think Tank – focuses on Youth Collaborating to solve the world’s problems, Ivy League Entrepreneurship -- focuses on start up businesses and The Real Mac Genius – focuses on Apple’s four major products. All programs will be presented by the leaders in each respective field, the three-day total immersion programs will offer students access to relevant real-world expertise and hands on practical application unavailable elsewhere.
The growing interest in THE KEY’s summer programs reflects the attention paid to gaining personal mastery achieved through a rigorous and thorough curriculum. The fall semester of 2011 will be remembered as the most difficult for even the most superior applicants to gain entrance into the top tier colleges and universities. Applications to the eight Ivy League schools plus MIT and Stanford skyrocketed from just over 200,000 applications to almost 300,000 early and regular applications, for a total increase of more than 40 percent, according to Michele Hernandez, President of Hernandez College Consulting.
To further filter candidates, a relatively new standard of excellence has been added to the admissions criteria: rigor and relevance. It is expected that students will not only effort to study more challenging subjects which reflect their personal passion, but acquire a college level of mastery within that specialty.
Rigor requires students to use a higher order of thinking skills to demonstrate their mastery from simple knowledge responses to complex evaluation and judgments employing a combination of analysis, synthesis and evaluation processes.
The KEY Worldwide Summer Programs challenge each student’s rigor with unique performance-based real-world projects like building an electric and hydrogen car in 36 hours, that are specifically designed to demonstrate mastery levels of cognitive thinking that will be required to participate in the global marketplace.
